Who Needs Validation?
As I listened to Adam Herndon speak about finding your purpose and sharing his success story an overflow of thoughts filled my mind.
So for my readers, I want you to take a second to look in the mirror, pull out your front camera, or check the reflection in the window and tell me what do you see? Do you like the reflection in the mirror? Understand that every time you look in the mirror you see a image that you can control. In fact, you are a business and in that business you are the CEO. The CEO of your life and how you run your business is completely dependent upon YOU. You have to learn to understand the image you are seeing, dissect the flaws and strengths and then grow to LOVE what you see while also admiring the potential you hold and the heights you can reach. But what you must not do, what you cannot do is lie to the person in the mirror.
You can lie to your friends, family and even strangers. You can paint the picture you want them to see and they can be fooled by that picture but you can’t lie to yourself. Why lie? Why paint a false image? Why alter the way you are perceived by others? Most people are searching for validation from others. Constantly dwelling on the opinions of others or comparing themselves to others. What you see is not always what you get. Stop wondering do they like me? How do they look at me? Why are they so successful and i’m not? Why do they have it all together? Why don’t they go through the things I go trough? When the questions should be do I like who I am, who I am becoming or who I have the potential to become? When I look in the mirror what do I see? Do I love me? Am I happy with me?
Stop feeling like you have a point to prove to people. Like you owe people an explanation on why you made the decisions you made, why you move the way you do, or why you're in the position you are in right now (success wise). You have to learn to live life for YOU. You cannot spend time investing into an imagine or feeding into perceptions that only hit the surface but they do not the equate to the raw image and reality YOU have to face and deal with.
It’s important to know your "Why". Look at YOUR struggles, your strengths, weaknesses and figure out a way to capitalize on them. You can use them as motivation to go from good to great or an excuse to settle for less. You must do things that are sometimes difficult but they must be done in order to make you better. In this situation knowing your why is going to motivate you and keep you moving forward. If you want something go get it. Don’t let someone else limitations limit you.
Understand that timing is everything. You must learn to trust God's timing and not your own. Don't give up at the first sign of adversity because you will face many hardships along the way. Some will be greater than others but you keep pushing and fighting towards your goals. Anything that's worth having will not come easy. There isn't a blueprint or road map to success. It is created by YOU. So know your why, understand that trials and tribulations will come but the fight and outcome is dependent on YOU.
